Kerry Washington explains to Will Cain the relevance of affirmative action in relationship to how the United States prides it’s self on diversity and inclusivity.

kerry handled herself well, although it’s frustrating to see white guys (or ppl in general) turn every conversation about affirmative action into “isn’t this racist against white people” when it’s been shown to benefit white women more than any other group.

Could she break it down any more clearer though?, because that shit was crystal, postracial…ish, amerikkka

**BTW just to clarify, the way affirmative action works isnt that they just pick a person who fits a certain classification (i.e. she’s asian american, so she gets priority over this white man). No. It’s not “reverse discrimination”. It’s looking at people who already have similar qualifications, and taking into consideration other factors such as their background that could have contributed to other obstacles/circumstances that may not be so easily recognizable through standardized test scores and varying grades. It’s not an automatic upgrade.**
